The Violin
Plunged into a bath of silver, bathed in a shimmering solution, transformed into a vessel of light.
a dance between light and chemistry
Will you join me in this dance, together we can create a moment that will be captured in layers of light and live on with our soul.
The wet plate process is a dance between light and chemistry, a passionate embrace between the photographer and the subject. With a steady hand and a heart full of hope, the photographer pours collodion onto a glass plate, spreading it with a graceful touch like a painter's brush on canvas. The plate is then plunged into a bath of silver nitrate, where it is bathed in a shimmering solution that transforms it into a vessel of light.
The plate is then loaded into a camera, a tool that becomes a lover's eye, capturing the world with a fervent gaze. The shutter clicks, and the light spills into the lens like a waterfall, cascading onto the plate with a tender intensity. The exposure complete, the plate is taken back to the darkroom, where the alchemy continues.
In the red light of the darkroom, the plate is immersed in developer, a liquid that coaxes the image out of the plate like a lover revealing their secrets. The image appears slowly, like a whisper in the darkness, and the photographer watches with bated breath as it emerges into the light. Fixed in a bath of sodium thiosulfate, the image becomes a permanent record of a moment in time, a testament to the beauty of the world and the passion of the photographer.
